  • Vendor management and governance, including participation in the selection, management, and performance monitoring of external payroll providers.
  • Payroll compliance ownership, ensuring all payroll activities align with local labor laws, tax regulations, social security requirements, and audit standards across India and APAC jurisdictions.
  • Payroll reconciliation and controls, including variance analysis, gross‑to‑net reconciliations, statutory reconciliations, and alignment between payroll, HR systems, and finance ledgers.
  • Act as a key liaison between HR and Finance, providing timely and accurate inputs for month‑end close, financial reporting, accruals, audits, and statutory filings.
  • Employee support and education, responding to payroll queries professionally and delivering payroll‑related training or guidance as needed.
  • Maintain and continuously improve payroll policies, SOPs, documentation, and audit trails, ensuring they remain current and compliant.
  • Manage employee lifecycle payroll activities, including onboarding, offboarding, statutory registrations, deregistrations, and final settlements.
  • Support internal and external audits, annual financial statements, and compliance reviews with complete, well‑documented payroll data.
  • Collaborate with Global HR Operations and HRIS teams to ensure consistent system usage, data integrity, and successful rollout or enhancement of payroll tools across APAC.
  • Oversee time and attendance/payroll input processes, ensuring controls are in place to prevent errors and compliance risks.
  • Perform payroll data analysis and reporting, identifying trends, risks, and opportunities for process improvement.

What you bring to the role
  • 5+ years of hands‑on payroll experience covering India and the APAC region.
  • Strong working knowledge of India payroll legislation, with exposure to other APAC labor laws and statutory frameworks.
  • Proven experience managing payroll compliance, reconciliations, audits, and deadline‑driven payroll environments.
  • High level of accuracy, attention to detail, and ownership, while respecting all payroll deadlines.
  • Strong analytical capability with advanced Excel skills (reconciliations, controls, reporting).
  • Experience working with payroll vendors, HR systems, and finance teams in a global organization.
  • Proactive, solutions‑oriented, and comfortable working in a fast‑moving environment.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written (fluent English required).
  • Strong collaboration skills with the confidence to challenge data, controls, or processes when compliance or accuracy is at risk.
